A cold start is expected today with lows dipping near 20 degrees this morning and under mainly cloudy skies. A few snow flurries and icing had occurred early this morning but will quickly move out of the area. We can expect a wind shift out of the north later this afternoon and some peaking sun, but temperatures from the cold air advection brought in by the system in southern Texas will remain in the mid 30s today. Overnight, a trough will come by to switch the winds yet again and become gusty out of the south. This will help temperatures from dipping down too much and will bottom out in the upper 20s. Continuing for the week, we will have mainly zonal flow in the upper levels, keeping weather mainly dry. A cold front, which only brings a wind change and cooler temperatures, will come through on Wednesday. Temperatures still are in the low 50s and just below normal for this time of year. Behind the front for Thursday, temperatures drop into the upper 40s under mainly sunny skies. Lows will vary from the low to mid 20s for the rest of the week. By the weekend, more specifically Saturday, temperatures soar to above normal, with highs in the upper 50s and low 60s. Weak ridging will be in place, as well as southerly wind flow at the surface to warm up. Another cold front comes through by Sunday and will keep temperatures cooler and below normal through Monday as well as dry conditions. The lack of moisture has been causing these dry cold fronts to only bring cooler temperatures and not a chance of precipitation.
