Daily Forecast: May 06 2024

Low-level stratus clouds this morning will mainly clear out by midafternoon. The dryline will sharpen and move in from the west. Even though CAPE values will be strong over 3000 J/Kg, capping will be in place today preventing any storm development later this afternoon. Highs for today are mostly in the upper 80s with southwesterly flow at the surface. Lows tonight stay mild with temperatures in the low 70s. Warmer than average temperatures are expected the next few days with temperatures mainly in the low to mid 90s for Tuesday and Wednesday as dry conditions persist. For Thursday, an upper-level trough and an associated cold front will push through the area. Mainly cooler with temperatures in the upper 70s to low 80s and a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms to develop along the front. Overnight lows will be normal with temperatures in the mid to upper 50s. Some models are showing that an upper -level trough pattern is setting up for this weekend across the Desert Southwest. There is a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms, but model guidance has low confidence currently. Will keep updating about this development as the week goes on.
